Ashley Apap is a Melbourne/Naarm based writer/comedian whose work focuses on melding accessibility, silliness and sincerity. Her improv training is expansive and international, having completed extensive training at iO Chicago, Upright Citizens Brigade Hollywood, Second City Hollywood, and of course, The Improv Conspiracy.
Ashley has been an ensemble member at TIC since 2015, and feels her improv training is the bedrock of all her creative practices (and her favourite activity of all time). As well as an accomplished improviser, Ashley has found joy and momentum in many facets of making comedy.
Her debut Melbourne International Comedy Festival solo show "Ouch!" was nominated for the 2022 Golden Gibbo Award to sold out crowds and she's since been performing her high energy standup, sketch, improv and musical comedy around Australia since. In 2023, she made her professional theatre debut in the new Malthouse Theatre work “Telethon Kid” by Alistair Baldwin. She was also given the chance to create, host and write for her very own talk show “Scamp” on streaming service Powerd Media in 2023 - a 6 episode fever dream filled with colour and tomfoolery.
In her most recent creative endeavour, Ashley created, hosts and produces a completely improvised world building podcast called “Palsville”. Featuring some of the worlds best improvisers as guests, “Palsville” is currently available to watch on alt-comedy streaming service “Grouse House” (run by Aussie comedy legends Aunty Donna) and available to listen to on all podcast platforms. Ashley also co-hosts/co-produces internationally adored TV rewatch podcast “Call An Adult” with fellow Improv Conspiracy darling, Hayley Tantau.
Classified by The Age as having “great comic potential” and “a voice not often heard”, Ashley Apap is a breath of fresh air in the Melbourne comedy scene.
